La música como recurso para el desarrollo integral del alumnado de Educación Primaria. Análisis de su situación en las aulas, retos y propuestas

Abstract

Desde tiempos inmemoriales, la música se ha constituido como una disciplina potencialmente beneficiosa en el desarrollo integral del ser humano. Sus múltiples ventajas en el ámbito personal, interpersonal y académico la hacen idónea para formar una parte indispensable del aprendizaje en la etapa de Educación Primaria, pues contribuye al bienestar fisiológico y emocional del alumnado como parte de la sociedad, facilita la consecución de los objetivos fundamentales del panorama educativo actual y es una herramienta interdisciplinar presente en todas las competencias clave sobre las que se sustenta el currículo. Sin embargo, el análisis exhaustivo a partir de numerosos autores revela una falta de conocimiento y concienciación generalizada sobre ello, que se pone de manifiesto en una legislación que no concede el espacio suficiente a la música para conseguir objetivos coherentes con sus posibilidades, en los docentes y futuros docentes especialistas y generalistas sin la formación suficiente para construir aprendizajes significativos a través de ella, y en el entorno educativo y social del alumnado que no reconoce su valor. Es por ello que se presenta un camino lleno de retos por cumplir, y también una recopilación de propuestas para iniciar el camino hacia las prácticas educativas significativas y holísticas y, en general, hacia una educación que aproveche este recurso para su mejora global.

Since ancient times, music has been constituted as a potentially beneficial discipline in the integral development of human being. Its multiple advantages in personal, interpersonal and academic fields make it ideal for being an essential part of learning in primary education stage, as it contributes to the physiological and emotional well-being of students as a part of the society, it facilitates the achievement of fundamental objectives of the current educational outlook and it is an interdisciplinary tool present in all the key competences in which the curriculum is based. However, the exhaustive analysis from many authors shows a lack of knowledge and a widespread consciousness about that, which is revealed in a law that does not give enough space to music in order to achieve goals consistent with its possibilities, in teachers and future specialist and generalist teachers without enough training to build meaningful learnings through it, and in the educational and social environment of students, that does not recognize its value. That is why there is still a long way full of challenges to be met, and also a summary of proposals to start the way towards meaningful and holistic educational practices and, overall, towards and education that takes advantage of this resource for its global improvement.
