el objetivo de cancelar el poder de la religión sobre las masas. Con este fin destruyó sistemáticamente los símbolos
del poder religioso y los edificios eclesiásticos, ocasionando la pérdida de un gran número de testimonios artísticos y
culturales. Destacaban los adornos y programas decorativos barrocos, que constituían el más directo paradigma de la
inflexión del desarrollo artístico y cultural de la ciudad de Valencia y su entorno. [-]

In the years of the civil war, because of its secularization and anticlericalism, the revolutionary movement set
itself the goal of cancelling the power of religion over the masses. With this purpose, it systematically destroyed the
symbols of religious power and ecclesiastical buildings, causing the loss of many artistic and cultural testimonies. The baroque ornaments and decorative programs stood out, constituting the most direct paradigm of the change of the artistic
and cultural development in the city of Valencia and its surroundings. [-]
