| ca_CA |
dc.description.abstract | This paper intends to analyse the development of prostitution from the birth of the social contract to the present day. Through a historical review into the waves of feminism, a study is conducted on the changes that have occurred in contemporary society and which have emerged in the current debate concerning prostitution, where two major positions can be distinguished. On the one hand, regulationism, which favours the legalisation of prostitution, under the premise that women have the right to choose whether or not to engage in prostitution. On the other hand, abolitionism, which favours the suppression of prostitution, as it is considered to be a means of perpetuating inequalities between men and women. Thus, the aim of this paper is to provide a critical analysis of both positions, the arguments upon which they are built and their consequences to discover, finally, if prostitution has a place in contemporary societies. | ca_CA |
