Abstract

Temps d’Artesania is a website specialized in contemporary crafts. It presents news stories related to the techniques and creative processes of traditional crafts, which are nowadays developed with a more innovative look. The concept of contemporaneity is born with the addition of technology, because is a perfect synergy that makes possible a cutting-edge design. Craftmanship is present in our everyday life, and therefore, it is essential to tell its story. A big part of society does not really know what is behind a process of glass, wood, or leather production, so this website adopts a clear and necessary importance. In addition, because of the current health crisis, many local workshops have had to look for alternatives. This resilience is in line with Temps d’Artesania’s philosophy. This theme has been consciously chosen because many traditional craft techniques persist nowadays and it is important that they do not disappear. The mass media play a fundamental role in this task. Unfortunately, they do not perform it accurately, often silencing works so historically rooted. That is why this lack of content on crafts, and specifically on contemporary crafts, arouses curiosity and interest for a digital media outlet, even more it is focused on the intertwining between craftmanship and new technologies. Some of the main goals of the project are: (1) To disseminate and give visibility to professionals in the craft sector that are ignored by the mass media and give the pieces a quality journalistic treatment. (2) To highlight the artisan work from its initial idea until he or she gives shape to the final product, highlighting the full nature of the process.
