Show Up Magazine is an online magazine included into the service journalism scope. Its
main thematic core is the personal image as a communication tool, although it covers
another topics, such as fashion, beauty, lifestyle or self-care. Show Up Magazine could be
considered a pioneer in its sector as the first national magazine that addresses personal
image as the head theme of the publication. That is why the magazine seeks to provide an
added value compared to the often empty and superfluous content of fashion media,
offering elaborate and analytical pieces that can have a positive impact on people's lives.
The magazine’s content is oriented to a wide target spectrum, owing to the fact that
personal image issue concerns everyone regardless of their age or their gender. For this
reason, Show Up Magazine is aimed to professionals who want to guide their image in
order to achieve their occupational goals, but also to ordinary people who just need
guidelines to improve their self-esteem and take responsibility of the way they are
perceived.
As its name suggests, the magazine intends that its readers, through its guidelines, can
become a better version of themselves and show it up to the world, feeling finally
comfortable in their own skin.
Vision, mission, values and objectives
In the first place, regarding to Show Up Magazine’s business vision, the magazine seeks
to become a national reference communication media in the field of fashion, beauty and
personal image, offering a practical advice that can reach a positive change on readers
daily routines.
In order to achieve that reality, the journal agrees to offer truthful and contrasted
information, with an essentially practical utility and original and variated content, with the

aim of progressively growing until it can be established as a reference publication in its
field.
The values of Show Up Magazine are built on information transparency, inclusion,
sustainability and ecology terms. The contents of the magazine are aimed to all types of
public, refraining from distinctions by gender, body morphology, sexual orientation or any
other issue that is used to be discriminative. In addition, it tries to promote, as far as
possible, responsible consumption, support for small local businesses and the sale of
sustainable products.
The main objectives of Show Up Magazine are to emphasize the relevance of personal
image and the impact it has on the way we are perceived by the rest, as well as offer
resources that the readers can introduce into their lifes with the purpose of helping them to
be the best version of themselves.
In addition to this, Show Up Magazine’s specific objectives are:
1- Develop a specialized publication about personal image, fashion and beauty
2- Promote interest in fashion field, fighting against the misconception about this sector
3- Make the reader aware about the importance of personal image
4- Offer an essentially pragmatic content
5- Cover an untapped market niche and be able to make a difference
6- Present a simple, dynamic and intuitive website, consistent with the corporate aesthetic
of the magazine
7- Learn how to take advantage of social media as a diffusive tool and all the possibilities
they can offer
8- Inform about the latest news of the main fashion brands collections
9- Promote sustainability and ecology in the fashion and beauty field
10- Promote diversity and inclusion through non-exclusive content
Content and approach
The magazine is composed of six sections in order to cover a wider number of topics. Its
main section is ”Imagen", a space destined for pieces that have to do with personal image

management and with everything that people transmit and project through it. The contents
are interpretative pieces, with a certain subjective chalice, but always based on data and
empirical facts, which seek to guide the reader in questions related to how to work on their
image and self-esteem. There is a clear predominance of current news about the fashion
field and signatures, as well as articles, user guides and new collections reviews.
As a publication that falls into the scope of service journalism, the objective of its contents
is always to offer tools and guidelines that readers can apply in a practical way. That is
why the approach is based on being close to the reader as an approximation resource,
using the second person in an appealing way and headlines that begin with the “how to"
formula to get the reader's attention.
Competitors
Show Up Magazine moves through the landscape of independent media specialized in
fashion and trends. On the one hand, its first competitor at the national level is
StyleLovely, very similar to Show Up Magazine in terms of format and content, with a
remarkable notoriety on social media. It is a good business model for the magazine to get
inspired by its communication strategy with the aim of growing and increasing its number
of readers.
On the other hand, at the local level, there are publications like The Fashion Route and
Hello Valencia that can be considered its main competitors. However, they differ a bit with
Show Up Magazine’s approach because they focus most part of its content, apart from
fashion, on events and current affairs of the valencian culture, as well as gastronomy or
travels. Nevertheless, there is no existent media right now that addresses the issue of
personal image as a communicative tool as its thematic core; that is why Show Up
Magazine can be considered as the first national publication to explore this field.
Corporate identity
If something captures the magazine’s essence, it is the choice of bright and vibrant colors
for its corporate image. This aesthetic is highly perceptible on the website, seeking to

maintain a certain harmony with the idea of being a publication that transmits optimism,
energy, joy and joviality. Its distinct logo in fandando pink presents a pop and carefree
inspired typography, designed line by line. The little stars around are a symbolism of Show
Up Magazine's goal of helping each person to shine bright with their own light.
Its official motto—“Be your highest self”— is an intentional declaration of which is the main
objective of the magazine: letting every person aspire to become their best version.
The simple, intuitive and dynamic design of the website, turns the experience of browsing
the magazine into a comfortable and entertaining journey where the readers can find the
information they are looking for in an easily identifiable way.
Show Up Magazine’s official Instagram account feed presents a cohesive aesthetic based
on the youthful, positive and energetic premise of the magazine, without falling into the
monotony and arbitrariness of one of those profiles that present the same unified style for
all their posts.
Conclusion
Show Up Magazine has turned out into a modern product, free of prejudices and
stereotypes, which runs away from the usual emptiness of this kind of content. It has
always kept in mind the horizon it seeks: to be able to become a useful guide in people's
lives, helping them to improve their confidence, security and self-esteem. Each piece is
meticulously prepared and has a prior documentation work behind. In the same way,
information selection and its later presentation to the public in the most synthetic way, has
also been key in the process of creating each piece, trying to post original content with an
informative value. Nevertheless, the priority above everything has always been to generate
accessible content to everyone without distinction.
The main strength of the magazine is that it is a young and straightforward emerging
journal, precursor in its field for being the first online magazine that addresses the question
of personal image as a communicative tool as its central theme. Talking about Show Up
Magazine is talking about a publication whose pieces are affordable to all audiences and
may interest everyone because it deals with general concern topics.

About its weaknesses, being a small magazine with just a little notoriety and visibility,
triggers often difficulties to get interesting personal sources to elaborate pieces, not
showing disposition to collaborate with the project. The situation caused by the Covid-19
pandemic, has also made it difficult to find fashion or beauty events to attend, since the
capacity limitation has been greatly increased. However, Show Up Magazine continues
working every day to be able to offer its audience a worked up and deep content, although
this can sometimes affect its frequency. In addition, it would also be necessary to learn
about positioning tools and SEO in social media, especially in the particular case of
Twitter.
Summing up, Show Up Magazine is the materialization of the concerns of a person who
has always had the interest of impact people's lives through words in a positive way.
Thanks to this enriching experience and its resulting project, I have had the opportunity of
exploring the possibilities that fashion field can offer, but also of proving myself as a
professional; giving an essentially practical content which aims to be different—as far as
possible—and offering a quality product in inclusive and sustainable key. [-]
