In today's society, thanks to the efforts that have been made over decades to
improve the employment situation of men and women, there are still many details that
need to be improved in the years to come. In particular, the promotion of women to
management positions is a matter of concern and concerns both employers and
employees, since women have historically suffered from rejection and inability to
promote themselves and to pursue their careers. Not only is discrimination and
stereotypes that have been created wich are influential to the detrimento of women, but
also the predisposition and ambition of individuals to grow in their professional careers.
The purpose of this work is to analyse the influence of individuals' overconfidence in
order to explain the phenomenon of the glass ceiling faced by women in the workplace.
A review of the literature is presented, explained with the scientific data (lab data) of
several studies. In addition, I present some data regarding the situation in Spain.
Finally, I included an essay talking about what I learned during the revision of the
literature. [-]
