dc.description.abstract | Liposomes are sphere-shaped vesicles consisting in one or more phospholipid bilayers that form spontaneously when phospholipids are dispersed in water. It differs in size and composition. They are under investigation as drug carriers for improving the delivery of therapeutic agents and few drugs are formulated as liposomes to improve their therapeutic index. This final project is focused in the classification, method of preparation, characterization, and applications of the liposomes as drug delivery systems. The benefits of using liposomes as drug carriers will also be discussed, since they are biodegradable and not toxic. | ca_CA |
