La anatomía vocal y respiratoria en los textos griegos antiguos

Abstract

Los mecanismos de la producción vocal y del aparato respiratorio solo pueden investigarse a partir del momento en que filósofos y científicos comienzan a interesarse por ellos desde parámetros que ya no son puramente estéticos. Aun así, hay que esperar a Galeno para que los principales ejes del médico profesional (observación, experimentación y demostración) se consoliden como métodos de investigación y trabajo. En este trabajo, se repasará la información textual sobre anatomía vocal y respiratoria desde el análisis de los textos, sin entrar en las razones científicas que aducen los distintos autores para justificar sus opiniones, desde las primeras fases científicas hasta la irrupción de Galeno en el panorama médico.

The mechanisms of vocal production and breathing can only be studied in Antiquity from the moment philosophers and scientists began to take an interest in such issues based on parameters that are not purely aesthetic. However, it would not be until Galen that the main tools of the professional physician (observation, experimentation and demonstration) became consolidated as a method of research and work. In this paper, textual information on vocal and breathing anatomy will be analysed in ancient Greek texts, without questioning the scientific reasons the authors use to justify their opinions in the diverse subjects they treat, from the earliest phases to the irruption of Galen in science.
