Cooperative learning methodology has been gradually introduced in English as a
Second Language class in primary education at school. Moreover, the inclusion of
active methodologies has accelerated this integration; as a result, students’ roles
have changed from passive to more active and participative in the English
classrooms.
This Master’s Degree Final Project includes, firstly, a wide study on the cooperative
learning strategies and methodologies, including examples of different strategies
based on cooperative learning methodologies such as the Jigsaw method
application, the inclusion of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs
henceforth) to catch students’ attention as well as cooperative reading tasks which
could benefit students’ understanding skills.
Hereafter, we will include a teaching proposal using the aforementioned
cooperative learning strategies offering a new vision and structure of education in
English classroom to make students as participative as possible during the
teaching-learning process. This project also includes the design of a future
research study to acquire understanding on the opinion of 4th year of primary
education at school in Oriola students and teachers regarding the cooperative
learning methodology using an objective personal questionnaire. [-]
