La imagen de las mujeres en los carteles de la Guerra Civil Española y la posguerra

Abstract

La Guerra Civil Española supuso en gran medida la incorporación de las mujeres al mundo laboral altamente masculinizado, un contexto en el cual los hombres marcharon a los frentes y las mujeres ayudaron a la causa desde sus puestos en la retaguardia. Los carteles de este período son una muestra gráfica de este hecho que merecen su estudio y análisis, ya que en ellos se representan los nuevos roles que adquirieron las mujeres en el contexto bélico, muy diferentes en el bando republicano y en el bando sublevado. La experiencia bélica supuso un espacio de tiempo liberador para muchas mujeres que llegó a su fin con la pérdida de la guerra por parte del bando republicano y la instauración del nuevo régimen fascista, el cual estableció un modelo de mujer ideal que hizo llegar a la población mediante diversos mecanismos y que finalizó con la publicación de una guía con las reglas que debían seguir las «buenas mujeres».

The Spanish Civil War largely involved the incorporation of women into the highly masculinized world of work, a context in which men marched to the fronts and women helped the cause from their positions in the rear. The posters of this period are a graphic example of this fact that deserve their study and analysis, since they represent the new roles that women acquired in the war context, very different on the Republican side and on the rebel side. The war experience was a liberating space of time for many women that ended with the loss of the war on the part of the republican side and the establishment of the new fascist regime, which established an ideal woman model that reached the population through various mechanisms and that ended with the publication of a guide with the rules that "good women" should follow.
