In this Final degree project, parental rejection is addressed through an intervention project. The aim is to provide tools to children who suffer parents’ rejection and who have been victims of domestic violence. If apart from parents’ rejection the child has experienced domestic violence situations, the child suffers psychological adjustment problems and his/her development is highly affected (Asensi, 2007). For these reasons, a rapid diagnosis and intervention are considered to be of particular importance. The project which lasts 14 weeks, is designed to be implemented in the Social Services of Almassora (Castellón) and it is intended for minors aged from 9 to 12 who are users of the centre. The project will have an interdisciplinary team formed by a psychologist, a social worker and two social educators. All of them will have the task of providing tools to deal with parental rejection, to improve the mother-child relationship, to increase positive behaviour towards women and to prevent Parental Alienation Syndrome, SAP (Gardner, 1985). Sessions will be carried out through different dynamics and will be distributed in four blocks with different objectives. Block I will be composed of individual sessions to work on parents’ rejection together with the SAP, the self-concept and child’s self-esteem. In order to improve mother-child relationships, the mother and child sessions will be carried out in block II. In the interventions of the last two blocks, the creation of positive social relationships will be promoted so as to avoid aggressive or antisocial behaviour and to promote gender equality. These interventions will be in groups and simultaneous, working, on the one hand, with all the children and on the other hand with their mothers. Finally, the evaluation will be carried out through observation and evaluative questions both before and after the interventions to check if the evolution of the child has been favourable. [-]
