dc.description.abstract | Reward sensitivity (SR) is a personality dimension that predisposes the presence of addictive behaviors including those behaviors that lead to an uncontrolled feeding pattern. At the neural level, SR is related to a decrease in the size of the basal ganglia and the prefrontal lobe. A recent study confirmed both results, but it has shown that the interaction of both factors (high SR and BMI) was associated with a reduced hippocampal volume. There is evidence showing that obese people have episodic memory deficits. The present project aims to study possible memory deficits based on SR and BMI and the hypothesis is that the interaction of both factors is associated with deficits in episodic memory. The sample is made up of 4 groups of 30 participants (15 men and 15 women) between 18 and 30 years old, with no history of medical conditions and/or neurological disorders and they will be formed according to SR and BMI variables, with no differences in intelligence. The instruments to be used are the Punishment Sensitivity and Reward Sensitivity Questionnaire (SPSRQ), the BMI and different episodic memory tests. The scores obtained will be analyzed using an ANOVA with three factors (BMI, SR and sex), including age as a covariate. The result will produce a significant interaction between BMI and SR that will show lower memory scores in individuals with high BMI and high SR. The reduction in the volume of the right hippocampus found in the previous work (Parcet et al., 2020) would produce memory deficits. If these results are confirmed, memory deficits could contribute to a lack of recording of negative episodes related to eating behavior, facilitating the emission of impulsive behaviors (Hargrave et al., 2016). | ca_CA |
| ca_CA |
