La humanización de los cuidados en unidades de críticos Neonatales y Pediátricas

Abstract

De forma global, se estima que más de 15 millones de niños nacen antes de llegar a término anualmente. En este sentido, siendo la prematuridad la primera causa de mortalidad en niños menores de 5 años, el papel de las Unidades de Críticos Intensivos Neonatales y Pediátricos juegan un papel fundamental. No obstante, dado que este tipo de unidades suponen numerosos factores estresantes derivados del tratamiento, de la separación familiar y del niño, se hace necesario encontrar un enfoque centrado en la humanización de los cuidados en este tipo de servicios, con objetivo de mejorar los cuidados desde un punto biopsicosocial, poniendo al paciente en el centro de toda actuación.

Globally, it is estimated that more than 15 million children are born before term annually. In this sense, being prematurity the first cause of mortality in children under 5 years of age, the role of the Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Intensive Units plays a fundamental role. However, given that this type of unit involves stressors factors derived from treatment, family and child separation, it is necessary to find an approach focused on the humanization of care in this type of service, with the aim of improving the care from a biopsychosocial point of view, putting the patient at the centre of all action.
