Nowadays, English has become the most common means of communication among speakers from different countries, thus becoming an indispensable and an essential tool to function in modern society. In this sense, we live in a globalized world which demands a multilingual society, something that has led us to an increasing implementation of bilingual programs in the educational context. Even though the enormous importance of the English language not only in education systems but also in society, the great amount of Spanish students still have problems when studying and practicing that language. This becomes one of the main motivations to create innovative methodologies so as to enhance linguistic programs. CLIL approach appears as a convenient method to such a degree that improves the acquisition of a second language and ensures students to reach an adequate linguistic level. This paper examines the most relevant features of CLIL approach and its implementation in the area of music. Finally, a teaching proposal based on the pillars of CLIL applied to a music class is provided. The aim of this proposal is to improve music knowledge as well as English communicative competence in students of first of ESO from Secondary School who are studying English as a foreign language.
