The main objective of this research work is to create an analytical method capable to
differentiate between the qualities of olive oils (EVOO/VOO or LOO), through the use
of a relative novel technique ASAP-Q-TOF(MS) ... [+]
The main objective of this research work is to create an analytical method capable to
differentiate between the qualities of olive oils (EVOO/VOO or LOO), through the use
of a relative novel technique ASAP-Q-TOF(MS) and metabolomics-based approach.
With this technique, it is intended to find a different point of view and a
complementary analysis to the known “PANEL TEST”, giving a faster, cheaper and more
objective classification of the samples.
This major objective can be divided into several partial objectives:
- A bibliography review about the olive oil, which includes composition, properties
and benefits, quality classification, among others.
- Develop a full spectrum acquisition method by using ASAP-QTOF MS.
- Optimization of the sample introduction/ionization through a Design of
Experiments (DoE) using Design Expert software
- Study of the addition of different internal standards
- Metabolomic design for data processing, comparing PARAFAC2 and XCMS free
package from R
- Statistical treatment of the data to find markers of quality to create a model which
permits to classify the olive oils as EVOO/VOO or LOO. [-]
