The use of subframes and inheritances

Abstract

Frame semantics has been often brought as a topic of discussion during the past and most recent years, given its potential to explain how the several concepts of lexical units group and interact among themselves. Through the concept of frames, all of the elements of a certain frame are made available to our knowledge and, thereby, it becomes easier for us to have a full picture of a certain scenario and to understand how do they relate to each other, and which roles do these adopt. Yet, it may happen that the most superficial levels of frames do not provide us with necessarily complete information in order to dispose of a full understanding of a certain frame. For this reason, in this paper the main area addressed will be established in relation to the sub-categories of frames, namely, subframe frames and inheritance frames, as such sub-levels allow us to access a more extensive and accurate level of knowledge in comparison to the further general levels of frames from which these come from. Hence, we will explain and justify why such levels deserve to be regarded if our intentions rely on achieving a full understanding of the concepts of the frames evoked.”
