Tratamiento informativo del proceso de independencia de Cataluña en la prensa escrita. Desde el anuncio del referéndum al inicio del juicio contra los líderes

Abstract

El movimiento por la independencia de Cataluña comenzó el 9 de junio de 2017 con el anuncio del día de la consulta. Desde entonces, este asunto ha estado presente en la agenda mediática por las diferentes etapas que ha vivido y por la repercusión que ha alcanzado, puesto que afecta directamente al ámbito social y político, no solo de Cataluña, sino de todo el país. Etapas como el día de realización del referéndum, la aplicación del Artículo 155, la entrada en prisión de los líderes independentistas y el juicio a estos. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es definir, mediante el análisis de la muestra, el tratamiento informativo que realiza cada medio, analizando y definiendo su posicionamiento respecto a este asunto. Para ello, se realizará un análisis principalmente cuantitativo, a pesar de que también se analizan algunos aspectos desde el punto de vista cualitativo, de 200 piezas entre noticias y editoriales de dos medios autonómicos, ARA y La Vanguardia y dos medios nacionales, El País y El Mundo. Esta investigación tendrá en cuenta a qué fuentes ha dado voz cada medio, qué actores ha visibilizado y, por tanto, a quién ha otorgado el protagonismo informativo. Además de qué funciones del encuadre de Entman contiene cada pieza así como las palabras clave empleadas por cada periódico. Los resultados muestran como los medios nacionales estudiados van al unísono, frente a los autonómicos que no comparten la misma postura frente a la independencia. ARA se sitúa como el único medio defensor del procés frente al rechazo de los otros periódicos. Por tanto, el enfrentamiento territorial Cataluña-España se refleja también mediáticamente.

The separatist movement in Catalonia began on 9 June 2017 with the announcement of the day of the referendum. Since then, this issue has been on the media agenda during its the different stages it has gone through and the repercussions it has had, since it directly affects the social and political sphere, not only in Catalonia, but in the whole country. Stages such as the day of the referendum, the application of Article 155, the entry into prison of the independence leaders and the trial of these. The main objective of this work is to define the informative treatment carried out by each newspaper, analysing and defining its position towards this issue. To do so, a quantitative analysis will be carried out, but also a qualitative analysis, of 200 pieces of news and articles from four newspapers: La Vanguardia, ARA, El País y El Mundo. This research will take into account which sources has each newspaper given voice to, which actors it had more visibility and, and who has the leading role in the news. In addition, which functions of the Entman frame contains as well as the keywords used by each storie. The results show that the national media show the same bias, opposed to the autonomous newspapers that do not share the same position on the separatism. ARA is the only media that defends the process against the rejection of the other newspapers. Therefore, the territorial confrontation between Catalonia and Spain is also reflected in the media.
