dc.description.abstract | Even though past research has studied the positive and negative consequences of sexting, there are few studies about the interaction between the motivations of sexting, coercion and romantic beliefs. For that reason, this study analyzes the phenomenon of sexting considering these variables. Considering this, a total of 236 adults, voluntarily, completed a set of assessment scales including the Sexting Behaviors Scale (Coskunpinar and Cyders, 2011), the Motivations for Sexting (Drouin and Tobin, 2014), the Escala Mitos sobre el Amor (Bosch et al., 2007) and the Coercion Scale (Hernández and González, 2009). Results indicated that sexting is a common practice, especially in stable couple contexts as a way of doing foreplay, making the relationship more intimate and responding to the needs of the partner. On the other hand, are also evident the normalization of the experience of sexual coercion and their relationship with the degree of acceptance to the romantic beliefs, age and sex of the participants. | ca_CA |
| ca_CA |
