dc.description.abstract | Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most frequent cardiac arrhythmia, whose prevalence is estimated to be around 1-2% in the general population. However, the risk of suffering AF considerably increases with age. This arrhythmia increases morbidity and mortality, its main complication is the risk of stroke, which is 5 times higher compared with the general population. Also, it´s an important cause of other embolic episodes, heart failure and sudden death. The treatment has a double objective: increasing life expectancy by anticoagulation, when there is a high thromboembolic risk, and reducing symptoms by controlling frequency and heart rates. The present Final Degree Project has consisted in the realisation of an assistance protocol for Emergency and Cardiology service of La Plana Hospital. This protocol is aimed at standardizing an adequate AF management in patients from this hospital. For this purpose, a systematic search of the current scientific evidence concerning AF has been carefully carried out. Afterwards it has been applied to our system and health department. In this protocol, we approach the morbidity and mortality, classification, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment of AF. A reduced summary of the protocol is also included. | ca_CA |
| ca_CA |
