Globalisation and technological advances have brought new ways of using Information and
Communication Technologies (ICTs), enlarging our way of thinking and innovating the learning
process. Therefore, their introduction in the English Foreign Language (EFL) classroom is a fact.
Accordingly, this technological era has changed the way we understand ‘Literacy’, which know is
known as ‘Multiple Literacies’ (The New London Group, 2000). In order to teach multi literate EFL
students, there are different types of technological tools that can be used and the advantages of using
them are diverse. For instance, films can be used to teach the four communicative language skills (i.e.
speaking, listening, writing and reading). Nevertheless, since grammar is one of the aspects needed in
order to communicate effectively, the use of films as authentic materials turns into a key point for
effective teaching. Furthermore, in order to make this task more than just a task to fill time, teachers
need to take some factors into consideration before selecting this visual material (Stoller, 1988; Allan
,1985). Those factors include, among others, the level of proficiency that students have, the age or the
purpose wanted to be carried out. T he aim of this study is to discuss whether films can help to develop
communicative skills in foreign language learning, focusing on grammar. In order to put this theory
into practice, a pedagogical proposal is developed using films with the purpose of implementing it in
future research. [-]
