La prostitución: un debate abierto

Abstract

Este trabajo pretende analizar el fenómeno de la prostitución a partir del debate producido entre la postura regulacionista, que defiende la regulación de la prostitución, y la postura abolicionista, que persigue su desaparición. Ambos posicionamientos mantienen un virulento enfrentamiento, que tiene dividido al feminismo en dos bloques antagónicos desde hace décadas. Desde una óptica neoliberal, el regulacionismo equipara la prostitución como un intercambio mercantil más, al cual las mujeres acceden desde su libertad individual. Mientras que el abolicionismo entiende la prostitución como un pilar del patriarcado y del capitalismo, que mantiene la jerarquía y desigualdad entre los sexos. El objetivo del trabajo es, por una parte, reflexionar sobre ambos posicionamientos y, por otra, realizar un análisis crítico de los mecanismos ideológicos y estructurales que sustentan cada uno.

This paper aims to analyse the phenomenon of prostitution from the regulationist posture, which defends the regulation of prostitution, and the abolicionist posture, which pursues its disappearing. Both of them hold a virulent debate that has divided the feminism in two antagonistic blocks for decades now. From a neoliberal point of view, the regulationism equals prostitution with a mere merchant exchange, to which women access through their own individual freedom. At the same time, abolitionism understands prostitution as one of the bases of the patriarchy and the capitalism that keep the hierarchy and the disparity between sexes. The aim of this study is, on the one hand, reflect on both positions and, on the other hand, to make a critical analysis of the ideological and structural mechanisms that sustain each other.
