No existen demasiados

Theory of mind (ToM) consist in attributing mental states to others and oneself. ToM skills have
been related to student’s sociometric type, that is the acceptance and rejection by their peers. TM
skills have been also related to the adjusted perception to the reality of this acceptance and
rejection. There are not many researches about this matter in the pre-school education period,
since most of them are focused on primary and secondary education periods. Nevertheless, in
Spain, children are typically schooled at the age of three, so from very young you can see the
relationships and rejections that appear in classrooms. In particular, the rejection can generate
negative effects in the personal and academic field, and it endures in the child throughout him or
her life. Therefore, analyzing the relationship between TM and sociometric status in pre-school
education is the objective of this work. To achieve this aim, TM skills of a classroom of 22 children
of three-year-old were measured, and a sociogram of peer nominations and perceptions was
carried out. The results showed high levels of TM in rejected children; greater positive perception
in popular children and greater negative perception in rejected children; and children with an
average perception obtained higher score in TM skills. Due to the results, it is concluded that an
important relationship between the sociometric status, the sociometric perception and the understanding of mind in three-year-old children is not seen yet. However, a relationship between
the sociometric status and the sociometric perception. [-]
