Retos epistemológico-normativos de la investigación para la paz

Abstract

El artículo aborda tres retos epistemológico-normativos que deberían delinear y orientar la investigación para la paz. Si definimos con Lévinas la paz como un despertar a la precariedad del otro, la investigación para la paz tiene un telos claramente crítico, transformador, que determinará los desafíos epistemológico-normativos de la disciplina. En este sentido, un primer desafío consistirá en cultivar la relación sinérgica y "de doble vía" de la investigación para la paz con la educación para la paz, la intervención social y el activismo pacifista, inspirándonos en la propuesta que Elise Boulding enunció hace ya más de medio siglo. El segundo desafío tendrá que ver con la conciliación de la perspectiva crítica -polemológica-, y la perspectiva constructiva -irenológica-, de la investigación para la paz. Con el fin de superar los efectos perversos de un abordaje polemológico unilateral y reduccionista, que puede terminar naturalizando y reproduciendo el statu quo enmascarado tras un falso realismo. Finalmente, el tercer desafío epistemológico-normativo de la investigación para la paz está atravesado por la preocupación en torno a lo que en terminología de los estudios postcoloniales viene conociéndose como ellocus de enunciación y la importancia de rescatar los saberes y acerbos de las voces silenciadas y marginadas, no sólo socialmente sino también epistemológicamente, por los discursos hegemónicos.

The article addresses three epistemological and normative challenges that should define and guide peace research. If we define peace with Lévinas as an awakening to the precariousness of the other, peace research has a clearly critical, transforming telos that will determine the epistemological and normative challenges of the discipline. In this sense, a first challenge will be to cultivate a synergistic and "two-way" relationship betweenpeace researchandpeace education, social intervention and pacifist activism, following the proposal that Elise Boulding enunciated more than half a century ago. The second challenge will have to do with the reconciliation of the critical perspective -polemological-, and the constructive - irenological- perspective, of peace research. To overcome the perverse effects of a unilateral and reductionist polemological approach, which may end up naturalizing and reproducing the statu quo masked behind a false realism. Finally, the third epistemological and normative challenge of peace research is crossed by the concern about, what in the terminology of postcolonial studies, comes to be known as the locus of enunciation and the importance of rescuing the legacy and knowledge of silenced and marginalized voices, not only socially but also epistemologically, by the hegemonic discourses.
