La prensa local en Enguera (1880-2013): estructura, contenidos e ideología

Abstract

La prensa local realiza un papel primordial en el desarrollo de las sociedades civiles en las que se establece, reforzando la identidad de sus lectores. La prensa de Enguera, desde sus inicios en 1880, ha contribuido a formar una comunidad local con identidad propia en la que sus costumbres, cultura y tradición, son las prioritarias. La siguiente investigación pretende recabar diferentes fondos para conocer las iniciativas editoriales que se han publicado a lo largo del tiempo en una localidad, en este caso la población de Enguera, en Valencia, ofreciendo una visión general de su prensa local, referida fundamentalmente a los medios impresos en papel y, en último lugar a los medios online. Partiendo del estudio hemerotecario de estos medios, en su mayoría conseguidos a través de particulares dada su ausencia en el archivo municipal, podremos observar la pluralidad de cabeceras y de periodistas que surgen, se desarrollan y evolucionan en esta localidad al mismo tiempo que se relacionará esta prensa con la etapa histórica en la que convive. Las conclusiones de este estudio apuntan a que la prensa de Enguera no siempre reúne las mismas características, ni se identifica con la prensa que hay en ese momento histórico en el ámbito nacional. Por ello, podremos distinguir claramente diferentes etapas en el periodismo local de Enguera, desde su máximo apogeo a finales del siglo XIX, hasta la digitalización y reconversión de las cabeceras en la actualidad.

Local press has an essential role in the development of civil societies where it is established, reinforcing the identity of their readers. From its early stages in 1880, the press from Enguera has contributed to set up a local community with its own identity in which its customs, culture, and traditions are priority. The following research seeks to gather different sources to get to know the first editorials that have been published throughout the history of this village, offering an overview of its local press which is fundamentally referred to the means printed in paper, and finally, to the online media. Starting from the newspaper and periodical library study of these means, most of them obtained from private homes given their absence in the local records, we could observe the plurality of mastheads and journalists that arise, develop and evolution within this town while this press is going to be related to the historic stages in which it coexists. Therefore, the analysis is divided into five historic periods or stages. Conclusions of this study show that Enguera’s local press not always has gathered the same characteristics or corresponded with the press of that historical moment in the national scale. For this reason, we could clearly distinguish different periods in the Enguera’s local journalism, from its peak at the end of the 19th century to the digitalization and the modernizing of actual headlines.
