Interconnected: Empowering the Youth for Social Justice

Abstract

The aim of this work is to present the Interconnected project and to lay down its pedagogical and methodological foundations. Interconnected is a project to bring high school students from different countries together to exchange personal experiences of (in) justice and to learn about the applications and implications of justice at the global and local levels. Four dialogical lessons are proposed in this work, along with an assessment of a pilot project we started with high school youth in Aracaju, Brazil, in the summer of 2018. More than a set of dialogue through video conferences, Interconnected is designed to empower the youth to act locally, while collaborating internationally and coordinating the global impact of their actions. At the end of the fourth lesson, each group is asked to carry on a practical project to contribute to a more just society while, directly or indirectly, advancing global justice
