dc.description.abstract | The fibromy algia is a disorder charac terized by chronic pain, fatigue , and a spectrum of comorbid psychological symptoms that renders treatment difficul t. Because of the previous, the f inancial and social burden for the public healthcare system is now alarming . Cognitive Behavior al Therapy is t he psychological treatment of choice in fibromyalgia, but the results in terms of change in mood and, especially, pain intens ity and physical functioning are still modest. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an emerging intervention which has shown promising results in fibromy algia . Most studies so far, howev er, have shown the effectiveness of such interventions using group therapy only and the number of assessments during existing trials has been very limited . This exploratory study aims to compare the efficacy of a psychologic al brief treatment based on ACT in a group application versus an individual one, using a Smartphone application , namely “Pain Monitor” , as a daily eco logical momentary assessm ent tool. To offer new evidence on personalized treatments, we will explore whether patient characteristics help understand differential treatment outcomes. The study was a single case trial AB (A) which involves 7 female participants (4 in the group condition and 3 in the individual o ne). The treatment effect size was calculated via the non -overlap of all pairs index. Post -treatment resul ts indicate d no higher efficacy of individual therapy versus group one, while the latter requires less resources . Results do not show a treatment effect on pain and fatigue , but a weak, positive effect on sadness . | ca_CA |
| ca_CA |
