Social entrepreneurship and social enterprises: alternative sources of financing

Abstract

Social entrepreneurship has taken a lot of strength in recent decades. Unlike traditional entrepreneurship whose main objective is to obtain economic benefits, this type of initiative is based on finding solutions to social and environmental problems. The peculiarities of social entrepreneurs and social enterprises have been key to their success. Once we have studied this topic, new forms of funding will be described. When the current period of economic recession clashes with the main objective of these companies, banks refuse to finance such projects. As a consequence, different forms of alternative financing have emerged, which have found in this sector a business opportunity.
