Mujeres artistas y su obra cerámica. El caso del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Vicente Aguilera Cerni en Vilafamés

Abstract

Este estudio trata sobre la cerámica contemporánea, poniendo especial atención en las mujeres artistas. Se centra en el análisis de la colección cerámica que alberga el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Vicente Aguilera Cerni de Vilafamés, junto a la trayectoria y características de sus autoras/es, ya que este centro cuenta con una colección cerámica relativamente extensa (cosa no habitual en otros museos). Primeramente se consideran los antecedentes y aspectos que ayudan a contextualizar y situar el trabajo y posteriormente se reúne la información sobre el objeto de estudio. La perspectiva feminista está presente en todo momento, pues se parte de la premisa de que las desigualdades de género siguen patentes en la sociedad y también en el ámbito cerámico (pese a la gran presencia de mujeres). Esta mirada también ayuda a explicar los motivos de que sea una disciplina infravalorada. Finalmente se exponen las conclusiones obtenidas.

This study deals with contemporary ceramic art focusing on female artists. For that, the study concentrates on the analysis of the ceramic collection along with its authors’ trajectory and characteristics at the Museum of Contemporary Art Vicente Aguilera Cerni in Vilafamés. The Museum as its central theme counts on a relatively large ceramic collection (not common in other museums). Firstly, the background and aspects that help place the study are taken into account and then information about the object of the study is gathered and analyzed. The feminist perspective is present throughout the study as the assumption that gender disparity is still patent in society and in the ceramic field (despite a great presence of women) is made. This insight also helps to explain the reasons why it is an undervalued discipline. Finally the conclusions reached are put forward.
