Influencia del deterioro cognitivo en el funcionamiento de las personas con esquizofrenia

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo realizar una revisión bibliográfica acerca de la relación entre la cognición y el funcionamiento de las personas con esquizofrenia. Para ello, nos planteamos tres preguntas a las que se debía dar respuesta en la revisión: 1) ¿Hay relación entre los déficit cognitivos y el funcionamiento de las personas con esquizofrenia? 2) ¿cómo afecta el deterioro cognitivo al funcionamiento de las personas con esquizofrenia? y 3) ¿qué facetas del deterioro cognitivo afectan más y por tanto habría que trabajar para mejorar la vida de estos pacientes? En la introducción se abordan los conceptos de esquizofrenia, déficit cognitivos especificando en todas las facetas de cognición, y el funcionamiento. Posteriormente, en los apartados de método y resultados, se presenta un resumen de los datos obtenidos en las bases de datos utilizadas: Scopus, PubMed y google scholar. Finalmente en las conclusiones se explican los hallazgos. Se encontró relación significativa entre los déficit cognitivos y el funcionamiento de las personas con esquizofrenia. Además se encontraron las dimensiones de cognición que más afectan. También cabe resaltar que se encontraron mediadores entre la cognición no el funcionamiento, así como otras facetas que se relacionan también con la funcionalidad como la empatía o los síntomas negativos.

The aim of this investigation is to perform a bibliographic research about THE relationship between cognition and functioning of people with schizophrenia. To do this, we asked three questions that should be answered in the review: 1) Is there a relationship between cognitive deficits and the functioning of people with schizophrenia? 2) How does cognitive impairment affect the functioning of people with schizophrenia? And 3) Which facets of cognitive impairment affect more and therefore, we should work to improve the lives of these patients?. In the introduction, we aim to describe the concept of schizophrenia, cognitive deficit specifying in all facets of cognition, and functioning. Subsequently, in the sections on method and results, we summarize the data obtained in the databases used: Scopus, PubMed and Google scholar. Finally, in the conclusions the findings are explained. A significant relationship was found between cognitive deficit and functioning of people with schizophrenia. Furthermore, the dimensions of cognition that most effect was found. It should be noted that mediators between cognition and functioning was found, and other characteristic than a relationship with functioning too, as empathy and negative symptoms.
