Diplomàcia per a una guerra: les potències occidentals en la Guerra d'Espanya. De juliol a setembre de 1936

Abstract

La Guerra Civil espanyola ha estat uns dels tòpics més estudiats del segle XX espanyol. La Guerra d'Espanya, nom que també rep la contesa ibèrica fent al·lusió a la seua vessant internacional, sense la que no podríem entendre res del que succeeix en sòl espanyol entre 1936 i 1939, compta amb elements en el seu si que la fan un conflicte de naixement purament espanyol. A més a més, la tipologia de colp d'Estat que la produeix s'emmarca perfectament en el fet que en la política espanyola, durant els segles XIX i XX, l'exèrcit intervé directament en la política, canviant el govern, el que es coneix com a pretorianisme. Això no obstant, no podem entendre quin fou el curs de la guerra ni la seua fi si no parem atenció al procés d'internacionalització que experimenta. Donat l'empat tècnic d'ambdós bàndols, tant els insurgents com el govern de la II República desplegaren tot un aparell diplomàtic amb les principals nacions occidentals per aconseguir l'ajut necessari per a véncer el contrari, pel que resulta evident que per a entendre'l hem de conéixer quina situació es viu a Occident i al si de la Societat de Nacions. En el dit aparell, fou una constant la política de No- Intervenció, pacte unilateral i multinacional que marcà de forma definitòria el curs i la fi de la guerra, així com la Història d'Espanya i d'Europa.

The Spanish Civil War has been one of the most studied topics of the 20th in Spain. The Spain's War, name received by the iberian fight alluding to its international side which is a key element in order tu understand the events taken place in Spain between 1936 and 1939. However, there are elements that become this war in a purely Spanish conflict. Moreover, the type of coup d'etat that produced the outbreak of this war is related with the direct intervention of the army in politics durint 19th and 20th centuries (which is knowns as pretorianism). Nevertheless it is impossible to understand the course of the warfare and its end if we do not pay attention to the internationalization process experienced by the conflict. Due the technical tie, both sides, the insurgents and the republican government, started the diplomatic discussions with the occidental lead nations with the aim of achieving the support needed to beat the other side. It is obvius that to understand it we have to know the situation of the occidental countries and the League of Nations. In that diplomacy, it was a constant the Non-intervention Policy, an unilateral and multinational pact that definitely marked the coming and the end of the war as well as the history of Spain and Europe.
