Manga y mujeres: Los cómics de Moto Hagio

Abstract

La Segunda Guerra mundial motivó la aparición del manga moderno que se conoce hoy en día, ya que el pueblo japonés necesitaba una forma de entretenimiento barato. Así, a partir de 1945 surgen autores como Osamu Tezuka que cambian la forma de hacer cómics, con influencias del cine de animación norteamericano. Aunque ya había mujeres que habían conseguido triunfar en el mundo del manga, a partir de los años 70 surge el llamado Grupo del año 24, un grupo formado por mujeres nacidas en a finales de los años 40 que revolucionaron los cómics «para chicas» al tratar temas innovadores y extraños para la época, como es la homosexualidad masculina. Este trabajo tratará especialmente la figura de Moto Hagio, componente de ese emblemático grupo, una de las primeras personas en dibujar manga «para chicas» con protagonistas masculinos que se alejaban de la heteronormatividad y los roles de género impuestos por la sociedad. Será importante realzar su figura a través de sus obras, sus influencias y su estilo gráfico y narrativo, todo ello mediante una recopilación selectiva de sus ilustraciones más representativas. Así, este trabajo académico intentará dar a conocer a esta autora de forma extensa, ya que sus obras aún son desconocidas para el mercado español de manga, habiéndose publicado solo una obra en noviembre de 2016.

The Second World War led to the emergence of the modern manga as it is known today, as Japanese people needed a cheap way of entertainment. Thereby, authors like Osamu Tezuka appeared and changed the way of making comics with the influence of American animation movies. Although there were women who had achieved success in the word of manga, in 1970 the so-called Year 24 Group showed up, a group of women who were born in the late 40s and revolutionized the comics «for girls» by addressing innovative and strange issues for the time, such as male homosexuality. This project will especially discuss the figure of Moto Hagio, emblematic member of that group, and one of the first people to draw manga «for girls» with male main characters that drew away from heteronormativity and gender roles imposed by society. It will be important to enhance her figure through her works, her influences and her graphic and narrative style, all of that through a selective collection of her most representative illustrations. Thus, this project will try to introduce this author extensively because her works are still unknown to the Spanish market of manga, as only one work has been published so far in October 2016.
