Las mujeres, madres y educadoras de la II República

Abstract

El siguiente trabajo tiene como objeto de estudio El papel de las mujeres, madres y maestras de la Segunda República hasta los inicios de la Guerra Civil, devolviéndoles la voz, visibilizando sus aportaciones a la modernización de la enseñanza así como el papel que tuvieron en la defensa los derechos de la mujer. Analizamos mediante la literatura de la autora Josefina Aldecoa, en concreto su obra Historia de una maestra, como son presentadas estas maestras, madres y educadoras. Para ello hemos contrastado la literatura con la historia que ya conocemos, analizando los aspectos que creemos más relevantes para éste estudio. Observaremos como la ILE es el motor de las reformas, siendo algunos pedagogos de esta institución importantes cargos en el gobierno de la II República. También analizamos algunas reformas educativas como; la escuela laica, las Misiones pedagógicas y las escuelas mixtas, observando la lucha desinteresada de las maestras para que estas reformas se llevaran a cabo. Por último, hemos analizado la labor de mujer/maestra y la labor de la madre como mujer y maestra en el momento. The aim of this end-of-degree project is to study the role of women, mothers and teachers from the Second Republic to the beginning of the Spanish Civil War, giving those women their voice back, making visible their contributions to the modernization of education as well as their role in defending women’s rights. We analyse how these teachers, mothers and educators are presented in the literature of Josefina Aldecoa, specifically in her novel “Historia de una maestra”. To achieve this, her literature has been contrasted with the Spanish History, taking into account the most relevant issues. We will see that The Free Educational Institution (ILE), which had some educators who hold important positions in the Second Republic government, was the main driving force for reforms. Moreover, we analyse some educational reforms; secular school, the Educational Missions and mixed schools and we will see the altruistic struggle of teachers to carry out the reforms. Finally, we have studied the work of women as teachers and the work of mothers as women and teachers at the same time. Firstly, we have distinguished the union between being teacher and woman and, then its subsequent outcome when woman becomes woman, educator and mother. In summary, it is a theoretical work based on the memoirs of Republican teachers, who were great fighters and defenders of rights and equality.
