| ca_CA |
dc.description.abstract | The «Rape of Europa» is a mythological legend that was mentioned by classical authors in their works and has been embodied in art in many masterpieces since ancient times. In this project, some 16th and 17th paintings have been highlighted in order to observe the importance of mythology in Renaissance when classical legacy arose and later periods, specially Baroque. For this reason, we have made an iconographic study of the paintings in order to show the influence of classical pieces on artists, which was received directly or by the translation of classical compositions. Additionally, the choice of both consecutive periods will enable us to observe in a better way similitudes about the painted topic, but also the differences about style. Therefore, we have made a detailed analysis about The «Rape of Europa» connected to what has been written about this myth, because it is impossible the study of a mythological abduction without having analysed previously all original sources about the myth. | ca_CA |
