Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a multifactorial psychiatric syndrome characterized by significate loss of body weight, prompted by a strong desire to get rid of weight and an extreme fear of gaining it. It also coexists with distortion in the perception of body image. The highest incidence of this disorder is given in the adolescent stage, being this age characterized as the most vulnerable one. The aim of this study is to perform an integrative review of the literature regarding primary avoiding techniques used to reduce the high risk of exposure to AN. To carry out this study, a previous search of different literature was set in the following data base: PubMed, CINAHL, LILACS, Biblioteca Cochrane Plus, Trip Database, ProQuest Central, ScienceDirect and SpringerLink, in order to identify and select the articles that most used to fit the matter. The results prove that the best type of treatment of the pathology is the area of prevention. Furthermore, it is set the existence of different prevention programs in order to be used as a research tool in future cases. In addition, it is studied the performance of the multidisciplinary health crews for early intervention and importance of encouraging a proper education regarding the pathology. It is concluded that it exists a need of improvement of the primary prevention measures to interrupt the risk cycle of the disorder [-]
