Los bosques de Francia en los siglos XIX y XX: Bosques nuevos y nuevas investigaciones

Abstract

Los bosques de Francia han conocido en los dos últimos siglos una evolución muy espectacular, que ha cambiado el paisaje del país, Se propone una presentación cartográfica del estado actual del monte francés, basada sobre los datos del inventario nacional, y una interpretación de su historia reciente, en los siglos XIX y XX, Se ponen en evidencia tres momentos históricos fundamentales: la reorganización administrativa y jurídica del inicio del siglo XIX; las primeras repoblaciones importantes, privadas o estatales, al fin del siglo XIX; y la última fase de transformación acelerada a partir de los años cincuenta, con amplias repoblaciones espontáneas o artificiales, en paralelo con el abandono rural. En los últimos años, el monte se tornó también en un tema científico significativo con un desarrollo de las investigaciones en historia, biogeografía histórica y paleoambiente. Las investigaciones sobre el monte impulsan una recomposición científica, que necesita programas interdisciplinarios.

During the last two centuries, French forests evolved dramatically and changed the landscape of the country. The author proposes a cartographic synthesis of the present woodlands, on the base of national forest survey data, and an overview of the contemporary forest history during the 19th and 20th centuries Three significant periods are considered: the administrative and legal reorganization at the beginning of the 19th century; the first great forestation movement during the second half of the 19th century; and the accelerated transformation in the last decades, with widespread spontaneous and artificial forestation following land abandonment. Since the 1980s, forest research in France turned into a significant scientific topic in history, historical biogeography and paleoecology. The development of forest research encourages a new scientific approach based upon interdisciplinary programmes.
