| ca_CA |
dc.description.abstract | The aim of the present study is testing what we call the “Kundera´s hypothesis”. We wanted to play also on the reverse side, asking ourselves if, for men, also would be more important children than mates. We thought that evolutionary theory set an excellent theoretical framework where to test this hypothesis, given its challenging thesis on altruism, kin selection, and inclusive fitness theory. Our hypothesis is, in partial fulfillment of the theory of inclusive fitness, a differentiation between the sexes when it comes to discriminating between saving his mate (with whom they share no relation) and save his son, and influence of the assigned age of family members (mate and child) when selecting who to help. Participants were 66 college students who carried out a questionnaire in which they were decanted several dichotomies between different related to help them. Analyses showed that more shared kinship related were selected most often. Significant gender differences in discriminating between the couple and the child were found. Moreover, also an influence of age assigned to the couple and the decision to save in the case of the men were found. | ca_CA |
