Study of potential application of literary texts in language teaching

Abstract

The following academic paper deals with acknowledging the potential application in incorporating literary texts in language classes as a tool to teach English as a second language, the paper will also focus on discussing how these texts should be used to its full efficiency in a classroom. The paper will also deal with researching different teaching approaches throughout the ages, arguments provided by scholars and methodologists for and against the incorporation of literature in language teaching environments and it with what genres texts and teaching techniques can be considered the most effective when using texts to teach English.
