Analysis of face to intercultural interactions: Spike Lee´s Do the Right Thing

Abstract

This assignment is focused on using a fragment of a movie, in this case Spike Lee´s Do the Right Thing to show problems found in intercultural communication between two different cultures and how difficult it may be sometimes not only to find those differences but also to fix the problems that may bring when translating. Using the country comparison tool of the 6-D Model developed by Professor Geert Hofstede we search for an insight into cultures from different countries. We see how small things affect us and how they grow up like a snowball rolling down a hill, just getting bigger and bigger. How gestures, being facial or kinesic can be more important than words. How everything counts.
