Diplomacia y redes de poder en la Italia del XVI

Abstract

Between the XVth and XVIth centuries it took place the change that will determine diplomacy until our days, in this work we explore this evolution, digging in its causes and consequences. Moreover, we will try to foresee how the ambassador position is imbricated in the structures of the Hispanic Monarchy; above all, in those that imply the control of the Italian territories throughout the patronage. So, we are going to deal with these issues from a theoretical and practical prism, that will help us to understand this process that integrates itself in the evolution of the Modern State. We will board the analysis of the treaties that will become classics and the two main schools of thought, one based on the humanism, the other over the Machiavellian «national interest» that support the new phenomenon of the permanent diplomacy. In turn, we perform a prospection of the ambassador position, fathoming in its general characteristics and typologies. Last, we analyze the role of this new group of ministers and its importance, when managing the Italian politics.
