The determination to convert the magazine into a reference in Spanish for Latin American cinema, including both that produced on the Iberian Peninsula and that from Latin America, without neglecting other aspects and works on film, meant that it necessarily had to set out by offering an overview of the area. Hence, this work, entitled TWO LANGUAGES, TWO CONTINENTS: LATIN AMERICAN CINEMA TODAY makes use of the entire issue, and addresses this concern in order to place itself squarely at the forefront of Latin American cinema, which it aims to set firmly within World cinema. The texts it contains do not cover (since it would be an unattainable task) all the filmmaking within the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking areas; but that particular gesture – leaving the door open to a permanent dialogue – aims to symbolise the determination with which we address this task, which was announced in the previous issue of Archivos de la Filmoteca.
