A propòsit d’un pes de pedra ibèric del Puig de la Misericòrdia (Vinaròs) de 41 gr amb la marca metrològica ‘o’

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza un ponderal del Puig de la Misericordia aparecido en un contexto de la segunda mitad del s. II aC que contiene el signo ibérico ‘o’ que corresponde a una conocida unidad metrológica ibérica de peso que se integra en el sistema a-o-ki, circunstancia que hace plausible pensar que está indicando el peso del ponderal. Este dato permite realizar una nueva aproximación al problema de la relación entre ‘a’, ‘o’ y ‘ki’, teniendo en cuenta tanto la ecuación que se deriva de la inscripción metrológica del cuenco de plata de La Granjuela, como la estructura de los ponderales contestanos, especialmente los del departamento 27 de La Covalta con una unidad de 42,2 gr. Adicionalmente, la constatación de la existencia en la metrología ibérica de un nuevo peso de referencia en torno a los 42 gr, es un nuevo indicio favorable a la propuesta de interpretar que en la leyenda del ponderal del Puig Castellar de 423,78 gr, ‘ustainabaŕ’, figura el numeral 10, tal como se derivaría de la interpretación de ‘abaŕ’ como 10 en el contexto del sistema de numerales ibérico que se parecen a los numerales vascos.

This paper analyzes a stone weight found at the Iberian settlement of El Puig de la Misericordia in the context of the second half of the second century BC containing the Iberian sign ‘o’ that forms jointly with the signs ‘ki’ and ‘a’ a known Iberian metrological system of measuring weight. This circumstance makes plausible to think that the sign ’o’ is displaying the weight of the stone: 41.29 gr. This data allow a new approach to the problem of the relationship between the units of the system, taking into account the equation that results from the inscription of the La Granjuela silver vase and also the structure of the Contestani weights, especially the set of the department 27 of La Covalta with a unit of 42.2 gr. Additionally, the finding of a new Iberian unit of weight around 42 gr., is a new favourable fact to consider that the legend of the Puig Castellar weight of 423.78 gr., ‘ustainabaŕ’, contains the number 10 such as would result from the interpretation of ‘abaŕ’ as 10 in the context of the Iberian numeral system that resemble Basque numerals.
