Abstract

Eco-innovation is the field that supports the development of new products and services by means of considering environmental aspects from the first stages of design. This way the environmental impact of new products is reduced, contributing to a sustainable society development. In the engineering context, disassembly may be defined as the organized process of taking apart a systematically assembled product (assembly of components). Products may be disassembled to enable maintenance, enhance serviceability and/or to affect end-of-life (EOL) objectives such as product reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling.
