these functions in children age 5 to 6 years, with the assessments made by parents and teachers, and check how much of these variables predicts better mathematics achievement.
The research involved 66 students from preschool who were given two tests of verbal memory, two of visuo-spatial memory, two of inhibitory control, a questionnaire of mathematics achievement estimation and BRIEF.
The results showed that the evaluation of children by means of neuropsychological tests was highly correlated with the ecological assessment carried out in groups of teachers and parents. Also, there was a high correlation between the two assessments of BRIEF, in the domain of metacognition.
Regarding all the measurements used in this study, the one which best predicted mathematics achievement was the teacher BRIEF, especially with respect to working memory. [-]
