This paper reflects on the results of a study based on the analysis of the educational practice carried out by teachers in the third course of childhood education and the first course of primary education to teach reading and writing in different Spanish regions. The results suggest that teachers prefer an explicit, early, systematic teaching of reading and writing. Likewise, they agree on the need to work on the students’ basic skills [-]
