Más Allá del Drag

Abstract

Más Allá del Drag es un proyecto documental transmedia que se centra en la vida de las drag queens, en este caso de cuatro, residentes en Castelló. La sociedad ha estigmatizado al colectivo drag desde hace años, relacionándolo (o más bien posicionándolo) con el mundo de la prostitución, además de marcarcarlas como personas irrespetuosas y obscenas. Igualmente, hoy en día se siguen promoviendo percepciones sesgadas, y no solo sobre las personas que hacen drag, sino hacia muchos grupos vulnerables, como es el colectivo LGTBI+. También, con este proyecto, se ha querido reforzar el hecho de que cuando “se montan” (se maquillan, ponen pelucas...) adoptan unas maneras de hablar, de comportarse o de expresarse, muchas veces, muy diferentes a las que usan fuera del drag. Así pues, este TFM profundiza en sus esencias viendo lo que se esconde detrás, más allá de todas ellas. Igualmente, acaba teniendo ligeros toques cómicos para ser una propuesta dinámica y original, aunque su objetivo principal es darle voz a personas que no han tenido oportunidad de ser escuchadas de verdad. Para ello, se han realizado cuatro entrevistas conformadas por diez preguntas a cada una de las participantes en el pub LGTBI+ Oz, Esto no es Kansas. Sin embargo, lo interesante de esta producción es que la “dragona” (concepto informal que usan mucho para referirse a personas que hacen drag) comparta escenario con ella misma, físicamente hablando gracias a la edición de vídeo, e incluso que comparta sus opiniones y experiencias. Actualmente, hay shows donde hemos visto a personas que se dedican a este movimiento (por ejemplo Drag Race, mundialmente conocido) o películas relacionadas con el tema (Priscilla, Hedwig and the Angry Inch...). No obstante,se tiene poca oportunidad de ver cómo ellas se sienten por dentro, hasta que punto son el personaje y hasta cual no.

Más Allá del Drag (Beyond Drag as for its translation to English) is a transmedia documentary that focuses specifically on the life of four drag queens from Castellóand aims to show viewers an undeniable reality that has often been labeledas obscene or associated with the world of prostitution. Unfortunately, absurd and irrational perceptions are still being promoted as of today not only affecting people who do drag, but also many vulnerable groups, such as the LGTBQ community. Also, through this project, we wanted to reinforce the fact that when they put on makeup and wigs, they result in adopting ways of speaking, behaving and expressing themselves often very different from those they use outside of drag. Thus, this Master’s Thesis delves into their essence, seeing what is hidden behind, exploring beyond their drag. It ends up having comic moments, being a dynamic and original proposal, although its main purpose is giving voice to people who have not had the opportunity to be really heard. To this end, four interviews were conducted with ten questions to each of the participants in the LGTBQ pub Oz, Esto no es Kansas. However, the interesting matter about this production is that the drag performer shares the stage with herself, physically speaking thanks to video editing, even sharing her opinions and experiences. Currently, there are shows where we have seen people who are dedicated to this movement (for example the worldwide known Drag Race) or movies related to the subject (Priscilla, Hedwig and the Angry Inch...). However, they offer little opportunity to see how they feel inside, to what extent they are the character and to what extent they are not.
