Efectividad de las terapias alternativas frente a la medicina convencional en el tratamiento del dolor en pacientes oncológicos

Abstract

En la enfermería tiene gran importancia el tratamiento del dolor, tanto para su diagnóstico, para su cuidado y para saber la evolución de este. Una de las prácticas de enfermería es la educación de los pacientes y dentro de esta educación, se encuentran las técnicas para el control del dolor. Este trabajo buscamos el objetivo de comparar la eficacia de los tratamientos con medicina convencional frente a las técnicas alternativas en el tratamiento del dolor oncológico mediante una revisión bibliográfica, para que los profesionales de enfermería puedan disponer de este documento para tener la capacidad de asesorar y guiar a los pacientes que soliciten ayuda y pregunten acerca de estas opciones terapéuticas. Mediante una revisión integradora realizada en enero de 2021, utilizando las bases de datos PubMed, Cochrane, BVS y Scielo. Las palabras clave fueron obtenidas con los tesauros DeCS y MeSH, combinándose entre ellas con los operadores booleanos AND y OR. En esta revisión se incluyen artículos de los últimos 5 años, en inglés o español. Tras aplicar los criterios de selección y realizar la evaluación metodológica, se obtuvieron un 14.29% (N=14) de los 98 estudios seleccionados a partir de la aplicación de filtros. Entre estos 14 estudios, un 57.14% (N=8) son revisiones sistemáticas, 35.71% (N=5) ensayos clínicos y 7.14% (N=1) guías de práctica clínica. Lo que nos permite alcanzar la conclusión de que las terapias alternativas son efectivas en el tratamiento contra el dolor en pacientes oncológicos, pero siempre como terapia complementaria al tratamiento habitual. Son terapias con pocos efectos adversos y con un bajo coste.

Nursing is very important in the treatment of pain, both for its diagnosis, for its care and to know its evolution. One of the practices of nurses is the education of patients and within this education, are the techniques of pain control. In this work, alternative therapies and conventional medicine are studied. This work seeks the objective of comparing the efficacy of conventional medicine treatments against alternative techniques in the treatment of cancer pain through a bibliographic review, so that nursing professionals can have this document available to have the ability to advise and guide to patients seeking help and asking about these treatment options. Through an integrative review carried out in January 2021, using the PubMed, Cochrane, BVS and Scielo databases. The keywords were obtained with the DeCS and MeSH thesauri, combining them with the Boolean operators AND and OR. This review includes articles from the last 5 years, in English or Spanish. After applying the selection criteria and performing the methodological evaluation, 14.29% (N = 14) of the 98 studies selected were obtained from the application of filters. Among these 14 studies, there are 57.14% (N=8) systematic reviews, 35.71% (N=5) clinical trials, and 7.14% (N=1) clinical practice guidelines. This allows us to reach the conclusion that alternative therapies are effective in treating pain in cancer patients, but always as complementary therapy to the usual treatment. They are therapies with few adverse effects and with a low cost.
