dc.description.abstract | Introduction: The work is one of the aspects of life that we spend the most time on. It affects the health of workers on a fixed or rotating shift. Recently, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified the work in turn as a probable carcinogen, and there is controversy regarding its relationship with certain tumors. Objectives: To know the relationship between shift work schedule and cancer. Methodology: Systematic review of the scientific literature in the PubMed, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, LiLacs and ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source databases, no time or language limitations were established. Results: N=17 studies were selected by inclusion criteria. The tumors studied were prostate (n=7), breast (n=6), colorectal (n=3) and skin (n=1). The work shifts used were rotating shifts (n=8) and night shifts (n=9). Night work was related to breast cancer (n=4) and prostate cancer (n=2), and shift work was related to breast cancer (n=1), prostate cancer (n=2) and colorectal cancer (n=2). The rest of tumors did not present association. Conclusion: Shift work and shift night work can be a risk factor for cancer, especially breast cancer and prostate cancer. Due to the heterogeneity of the results it is necessary more research to stablish conclusions on the relationship between cancer and shift work. | ca_CA |
| ca_CA |
