Avanç de les darreres campanyes d’excavació arqueològica al poblat de Sant Josep de la Vall d’Uixó (Plana Baixa)

Abstract

En aquest article exposarem els treballs arqueològics portats a terme les darreres campanyes dels anys 2014, 2016 i 2019 al poblat de Sant Josep. En les quals s’ha ampliat la superfície excavada als anys 70 del segle XX. La qual cosa ens ha permés constatar l’existència d’un poblat ibèric fortificat amb una trama urbana organitzada a partir de la muralla. Amb un urbanisme caracteritzat pel traçat d’espais de circulació entre la muralla i les edificacions internes. A més a més s’han documentat una sèrie d’estructures que relacionem amb la darrera fase d’ocupació del jaciment, de cronologia tardoromana, segles IV i V.

In this article, we will present the archaeological works carried out during the last campaigns from the years 2014, 2016 and 2019 at Sant Josep’s settlement, in which the excavated surface in the 70s of the 20th century has been extended. As a result, we can confirm the existence of an Iberian fortified settlement along with an urban area organized from the village wall inside. With an urban planning characterized by the design of the layout of spaces for free movement between the wall and the inside buildings. Furthermore, we provide documentary evidence of structures which we relate to the last stage of settlement occupation, which dates back to the Late Roman, 4th and 5th centuries.
