The common good matrix is one of common good economics main tools, as a clear indicator of the contribution of a company towards the common good. We experimentally analyze the impact of this tool at the time of making investment and purchase decisions, controlling for reasoning ability, altruism and attitude towards common good. In general investment and purchase decisions favoring the firm presenting the common good matrix exceed those rationally expected in almost all scenarios. Our results show that profitability and reasoning ability are the factors that significantly affect the subjects when they make these decisions. More intelligent subjects act in a more rational way, seeking to maximize their benefits. While more altruistic subjects are not significantly more willing to invest in a firm using the common good matrix. In the case of a hypothetical purchase decision, altruism has the opposite
effect to the hypothesized one. [-]
