Music history has kept aside a large number of women who have dedicated themselves to
music. This cultural prejudice has been passed down from generation to generation and
has greatly hurt the female sex. The weight of culture, so important in many of our vital decisions, has conditioned women on certain occasions. Thus, few composers are included in
the music manuals of our educational institutions (schools, universities, conservatories…).
Teachers have a challenge and could help to change this situation. Students are in the middle of this process and they could change this androcentric reality in which women are
almost inexistent in some musical fields. [-]
